Him + Her: A Prep Story

20.5.11

This time around Kristina, of Pretty Shiny Sparkly provided the next task for her Bloggers Do It Better movement, which was to interpret your version of prep school. Now, typically I'd just go straight to my favourite blazers for this particular look. I dared to raid the boyfriend's closet, and even my own searching for old school uniforms for inspiration.

During the rummaging process I found early crest jackets, and striped shirts. Afterward, I began to step outside my original decision (only for a few seconds) to come up with something that did not remind me of my school days. The untucked shirting, and opened vest, in addition to a spotlight held on a few unbuttoned areas would not normally be considered proper at school. But, I loved it even more, not following too many rules, being inspired by him, and donned by moi! I was definitely feeling more of the casual, artsy, and comfortable prep... basically a modern prep at ease.  Below is my version.

I wanted to use this old green filing folder, I used to keep my drawings inside of it. I just loved the colour, although I now use a different hue to store my files.

These shoes are actually quite heavy and I've had them well over a decade.
I've had a passion for pocket watches forever, since I saw my grandfather's pocket watch the first time- he'd wear it with his suits, and vests. I purchased this specific one earlier this year.

The goods:  Shoes- Delias, Tie- borrowed from bf, Shirt- Gestalt Collection Men's shirt, Rabbit pocketwatch- Etsy, Denim-Jbrand, Green spectacles/eyeglasses- Prada, Vest: abStudio, Briefcase- personal file folders.
