Vanity + Vintage #09
22.6.11
I'm excited to finally bring you another V+V series. This week's Vanity + Vintage is inspired by earth tones, antiques, and wood. I wore this outfit several days ago... when I woke up I had no idea what I was going to wear, but throughout the day it made me feel content and calm. This ensemble just happened to be a hybrid of fun and frilly, with patterns that met in the middle by their cool, soft, and murky textures. However, when wearing this look I found that it really wasn't gloomy at all!

I acquired this satin and velvet sheer burnout top a couple of years ago. Although, I only paid $6 bucks for it there were a few things that required proper attention. I needed to find a few detailed buttons to pair with it; not to worry though I fixed the small problem and during an unrelated shopping trip found very similar buttons at a trim expo that worked nicely.
Seeking for something to give my top a bit more character the inclusion of sewing metal filigree-styled costumed pieces worked distinctly as an adornment on one side of the shoulder. Typically I don't buy many items that need fixing, but I really loved the colour of this top and immediately thought of several ways to style it with other elements from my closet. I chose a simple vintage lace skirt to accompany this look, and then layered it with a modern lace skirt.
